  • Kuvaus: It is September 1915, and the Schneider company is manufacturing a tank with crawler tracks, designed in collaboration with Colonel Estienne. On February 25, 1916, 400 tanks are ordered. The construction and assembly are carried out in SOMUA workshops, in Saint-Ouen. These tanks are equipped with a short 75 mm canon, two machine guns, and have 60 horsepower engines, which allow them to reach 8 km/hr. The tank's interior has two driver seats and can hold a seven-person crew. Transported to the French front by train or trailer, these tanks stood out in combat by maneuvering in coordination with the infantry in 1917 and 1918.
